On April 20th, CBS College Program Students will have the privilege of meeting industry leader Lukas Decker, who leads function development for battery management systems at Mercedes-Benz AG, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Doppelbauer from KIT, a renowned researcher in hybrid and electric vehicles, providing invaluable insights into the latest advancements in the field. Students will be able to engage in interactive discussions, ask questions, and gain firsthand knowledge from these experts during what promises to be a very exciting Saturday afternoon.
On April 13th, the CBS College Program and Top Engineers India are teaming up for an “electrifying” event – the "IC Engines and Electric Vehicles: Bridging the Gap" workshop. This cutting-edge seminar will explore the intersection of traditional Internal Combustion Engines (IC Engines) and the latest Electric Vehicle (EV) technologies.

In February the newly appointed Vice Dean and Dean of Studies of Mechanical Engineering (International), Prof. Thomas Böhlke, came to the International Department to meet with CBS College Program participants for a "Fireside Chat".
In this session our students had the chance to talk to Prof. Böhlke directly and got to know him and his passion for engineering. A wonderful opportunity for inspiring and insightful discussions and exchange.

The International Food Festival came to the CBS College Program and the International Department Dormitories! Students with a passion for cooking came together to showcase their skills and everyone in the CBS College Program was invited to this flavorful event. This culinary adventure went beyond food: each dish tells a unique story of culture, tradition, and innovation, making this festival a delightful exploration of global gastronomy. We celebrate cultural diversity at the CBS College program every day – and on this occasion in the most delicious manner!
In this workshop for upper semester students enrolled in the College Program, participants will gain crucial skills and practical insights into what goes into preparing an application portfolio, concentrating on written job applications for the German job market. This interactive training incorporates real-world examples and draws on the consulting experiences of a student-led business consultancy. Attendees can anticipate ongoing feedback, fostering effective communication in a student-friendly environment. The objective is to equip students with essential qualifications and methodological expertise, ensuring their preparedness for the intricacies of job applications in the German professional landscape. This workshop will be repeated next year for the Cohort 2023.

For upper semester students
Upper-semester CBS College Program students are set to participate in a preparatory workshop on Friday, January 12, followed by the Bonding Career Fair in Karlsruhe on January 17. During the fair, they will have the opportunity to attend a talk by Procter & Gamble titled "What do a Braun shaver, an Oral-B toothbrush, and Ariel have in common? All products need GREAT ENGINEERS to create them – do you want to take the challenge?" The Friday workshop aims to provide students with valuable insights on how to effectively navigate a career fair, addressing their specific career stage, whether they are in the early stages of exploring opportunities or preparing for job searches and internships. The fair visit will serve as a practical application of the skills acquired during the workshop and as networking opportunity for more advanced students.

After a dormant period during the pandemic, the Student Association of International Department (SAID) is back to build and serve the student community on campus. It aims to create a local student community at the International Department. It is student-led, dedicating to bring international students together and connect them through raising culture awareness and celebrating culture diversity.
We are currently in the application phase of the different roles in the SAID Committee. Look forward to exciting projects and events that SAID will be implementing in the future!
Dr. Robert Landwehr conducted three engaging workshops on Project and Time Management, as well as career advice for engineers in Germany. These sessions, which took place in November and at the beginning of December, open exclusively to CBS College Program participants, were well attended, reflecting the strong interest
and proactive approach of students invested in their professional development. Envisioning the lasting impact of these workshops, we look forward to exploring diverse themes in future sessions, catering to the evolving needs of engineering students in Germany and fostering their growth in areas such as innovation, sustainability, and emerging technologies.
The KIT Online Application Portal for the B.Sc. program in Mechanical Engineering (International) at the Carl Benz School of Engineering for a start in 2024/2025 is now open and stays open until April 30th 2024. Get your applications ready for the 2024/2025 winter semester!
The free annual career photo shoot for our higher semesters took place on December 5th. Students had the chance to have a professional application photo taken of themselves, which they can use for their CV as well as for applications, internships and LinkedIn.

On November 11 we took a cultural excursion with our students to Heidelberg. They were able to spend a beautiful fall day in Heidelberg. The city tour provided exciting and interesting insights into the history of the student city. The participants were rewarded with a beautiful sunset. We are looking forward to explore more beautiful places around Karlsruhe with our students.
