The International Department at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is situated in a prime location amidst the bustling downtown area of Karlsruhe, the baroque palace and the campus. Fan-like palace grounds are all that separate the university from the palace, and all offices relevant to student activity are within easy walking distance.

Three stories of our historical dormitory building house 120 single apartments, each equipped with a private bath, a computer and a telephone connection. Adjacent to the single apartments are sections shared by four to six students. Looking out upon a bright courtyard used for student activities and gatherings, these shared areas each are divided into built-in kitchens, dining room and working spaces. The dormitory also provides a cafeteria, with a terrace that is open to the public.

Lecturers reside in the dormitory and facilitate personal contact between teaching staff and students. Administrative offices for the International Department are located in the same building so that students may have easy access whenever questions or the need for assistance arise. There is a library, as well as several work, music and social rooms. There is a new and separate auditorium within the courtyard itself. Easy access to a superior transportation system simplifies travel to other areas of Germany and throughout Europe.
