The KIT Energy Center is an interdisciplinary platform and ideal framework for research and teaching. It pools the energy research conducted by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology together with renowned cooperation partners. Engineering Departments at Karlsruhe are at the cutting-edge of research and technology development. Energy Engineering is a specialization within Mechanical Engineering and offers an industrial – oriented education that prepares students for the energy business. More than seven billion people will need to be supplied with energy and therefore it becomes an important market that offers excellent opportunities for qualified engineers.
The department of Mechanical Engineering comprises a full spectrum of applications. Practical research and development are integral to the curriculum in Mechanical Engineering. It is carried out in 19 Institutes under the direction of 28 professors, 262 assistant professors and scientific support staff, and is supported by 183 technical and administrative personnel. These research opportunities combining theory and substance lead to ongoing local and international interdisciplinary research projects.
